Setmelanotide

Imcivree (Setmelanotide) is an agonist of the melanocortin-4 receptor (MC4R), which is part of a key biological pathway that regulates energy expenditure and appetite independently. Genetic variants may impair the function of the MC4R pathway, which can lead to extreme hunger (bulimia) and early onset severe obesity. Setmelanotide is a targeted therapy that restores the function of the impaired MC4R pathway and re-establishes energy expenditure and appetite control, reducing hunger and weight loss in patients with rare genetic obesity disorders.
